Genetic factors
Research has shown that patients with allergic rhinitis have an atopic constitution, usually exhibiting familial clustering. Previous studies have found that certain genes are associated with allergic rhinitis.

Allergen exposure
Mostly derived from animals, plants, insects, fungi, or occupational substances. Its components are proteins or glycoproteins, with very few being polysaccharides. Allergen are mainly divided into inhalation allergen and food allergen. Inhalation allergen is the main cause.
(1) Mites: The most common mites in subtropical and tropical regions are house dust mites, dust mites, etc. House dust mites feed on human dander and mainly live in mattresses, bed bottoms, pillows, carpets, furniture, and plush toys, and reproduce rapidly. The house dust mite allergen is contained in its excreta particles. When the contaminated fabric is touched, these particles will be exposed to the air and can be deposited again soon. The concentration of mite allergen in the air is related to the incidence of allergic rhinitis.
(2) Pollen: Due to the large amount of wind borne pollen and its ability to transport over long distances, insect borne pollen can only be sensitized by direct contact. The sensitization ability of pollen varies with season, geographical location, temperature, and plant species. Most pollen sensitizers will suffer from conjunctivitis.
